How long is the ash scattering charter?

The $1000 fee covers a 2 hour charter. That includes approximately a 30-35 minute travel time to the spot where we will scatter your loved one's ashes and the same amount of time back to the dock. That leaves about an hour where we will anchor the boat to conduct the ash scattering service. If you would like more time, we can accommodate you for an additional fee.

Will the crew help us scatter the ashes?

Yes. Our crew has many years of experience and will scatter the ashes for you. They will ensure that the ashes will be scattered correctly. 

Will the captain perform a memorial service?

Not exactly. Our captain will be more than happy to read something that you provide for him (a eulogy, poem, etc.) However, he will not prepare something for you.

Do the ashes need to be in a bio-degradable container?

No. We generally scatter the ashes from whatever container you provide. If you would like to use a bio-degradable container, that is fine too.

Can I throw flowers from the boat?

Yes. Actually, we highly recommend it. It is a beautiful sight to see the flowers float away with the ashes. 

Please note that anything you throw into the ocean with the ashes MUST BE bio-degradable. We will not allow plastic objects to be thrown overboard.

Do you sell food/beverages? Can we bring our own, including alcohol?

We have no food onboard, and only sell bottled water at $1 per bottle. We encourage you to bring your own food and beverages on board.  We have plenty of room if you would like to bring food platters.

What should I wear? What should I bring?

Dress according to weather. Also, make sure to wear shoes with a good tread to avoid slipping. (The boat deck can get wet!) We also advise sunglasses, a hat or visor and plenty of sunscreen. The Florida sun is very strong! If you tend to get seasick (or you don’t know if you do), it’s always a good idea to take precautions. We recommend Bonine, which has a non-drowsy formula. There are also other products out there that are effective as well. 

Are there life jackets on board?

Yes, our vessel is US Coast Guard inspected. We have all the required safety gear on board. 

Is there a bathroom? 

Yes, there are two modest heads (restrooms) aboard our vessel. 

Do you cancel for weather?

This is Florida! There is always a chance for rain, so we don't cancel for rain. We will only cancel your ash scattering charter if there are advisories for hazardous seas.  If you are at all concerned, feel free to call us and we will be very honest about the expected conditions.

Do you accept credit cards or checks?

We do accept Visa, MasterCard and Discover. And, we only accept checks if we receive them in advance of your ash scattering charter. 

What time should I get to the dock for my trip?  

You should arrive at least ½ hour before the boat is scheduled to leave. 

Do I need to make a reservation? What is required for a reservation?

Our trips book up quickly, so we recommend that you book your ash scattering charter as soon as you are certain of the date. You will be required to complete and sign a charter contract and provide us with a 50% deposit ($450). This deposit is non-refundable within 10 days of the charter unless the trip needs to be canceled due to hazardous sea conditions.
